JEANETTE FLAGGE

Jeanette Louise Flagge, 67, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge with Rev. Lyle Hansen officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Jeanette is survived by her husband Tom of Fort Dodge; their son Andy Flagge and his wife Anne and grandson Oscar all of Mason City, Iowa. She is also survived by a niece and two nephews, Jon (Pat) Jaacks, Jill (Phil) Barnhart, and Jay (Melissa) Jaacks, and great-nephews Kyle, Eric, and Hayden. She is also survived by close friends and family too many to mention. Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Willis & Louis Jaacks.

Jeanette Louise Jaacks, the daughter of Walter and Jessie (Moeller) Jaacks, was born March 13, 1944 in Denison, Iowa. She attended Denison Schools and graduated in 1962 from Denison High School. She then furthered her education at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. On March 29, 1964, Jeanette married Tom Flagge in Denison and in the spring of that year she graduated from Simpson College with a degree in Elementary Education. The fall of 1964, Jeanette began teaching 5th grade in the Knoxville, Iowa. She taught there 2 years before they moved to Pocahontas, Iowa where she taught 5th grade for 3 years. In 1969, the couple moved to Fort Dodge, where Jeanette began teaching 4th and 5th grade science at Feelhaver Elementary. Jeanette also taught at Dodger Preschool and Head Start in Fort Dodge. She was currently the Education Coordinator for the Head Start program in Fort Dodge. Jeanette loved to play bridge, reading, teaching children and spending time with her family.

Jeanette was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, active in her sorority of Tri Delta on the Campus of Simpson College and a member of the AACA (Antique Auto Club of America).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to an upcoming scholarship/trust benefiting young children in Webster County, IA.
