Tool for measuring curve radius

It wasn't a protoype 100 ft chain, but sometime about 80% of the way through the last century there was a tool made to determine the radius of a given curve. I believe it was probably desiged for N-Trak to measure radii when the center was not known or was inaccessable or was impractical to locate. This tool consisted of a ruler (I believe 6" in length) with another, much shorter, ruler located at the midpoint of the first ruler. A person would put the ends of the 6" ruler across the inside arc of a curve, then move the second ruler to where it touched the arc also. the scale on the second ruler be in inches of radius.
